Belgrade declared as best tourist destination in SEE
International tourist patrol Sacen International declared Serbian capital city the best tourist destination in Southeast Europe.
Within the scope of the "Let's choose the most successful in tourism sector of southeast and central Europe in 2009" campaign, the tourist patrol visited 14 countries - Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia, Austria, Albania, Cyprus, Tunis, Malta and Greece, and granted awards to the best in 16 categories.
International expert jury decided that the Partner of the Year in Tourism is Unionclean London-Belgrade, while the Person of the Year in Science and Education of Southeast Europe is Slobodan Unković, a professor at Belgrade's university Singidunum. The best tourist agency is Belgrade-based Kon Tiki Travel.
The champion of ecological tourism in SEE is national park Đerdap, while the Trumpet Fair Guča won special award on the occasion of its jubilee - the 50th anniversary.
Vaso Rafailović won the award for the best family business in catering sector for hotel Obala in Rafailovići in Montenegro.
International tourist patrol declared Slovenia as the best tourist destination in southeast Europe, while Greece won the title of the Best Country for Maritime Tourism.
The title of the Champion of Health Tourism in Southeast Europe went to the Meditarrenan-Health Center Igalo, while Austria won the award for the best winter tourism in southeast Europe.
The Health Tourism Person of Southeast Europe is Dr. Dejan Stanojević from Merkur in Vrnjačka Banja. Perica Đaković from BN Television won the Gold Tourist Pen of SEE for his shows "Letters from Herceg Novi" and "Stories from Montenegro".
The Gold Tourist Heart awards will be handed to the winners on April 28th in Belgrade's hotel Continental.
