The global restaurant chain KFC intends to become the first in the world to serve chicken products made in a lab, with the help of a 3D-printer from Russia.

KFC has announced that it is planning to serve chicken printed by the Russian company 3D Bioprinting Solutions at “restaurants of the future”.

The printed chicken products should have the recognizable KFC flavor, SeeBiz writes.

Food made this way should be ecologically acceptable, KFC says, citing studies which show that conventional meat production methods are harmful to the environment.

KFC says that their 3D-printed nuggets will go through the final testing stages in Moscow this autumn.

– 3D bio-printing has wide application in medicine and is now increasingly present in food production – pointed out a co-founder of 3D Bioprinting Solutions, Yusef Khesuani.

He hopes that the further development of this technology will accelerate the production of this kind of food.
