From apple vinegar to "fruit republic" - Ekofarm in Ušće started production of five types of jams and conserves

Ušće-based Ekofarm, which is already famous for 20 years for production of apple vinegar, is now working hard to promote Serbia as "fruit republic" ahd healthy environment in the global market, so that it has started production of five types of jams and preserves under protected brand "fruit republic".

- Serbia is rich with forest fruits that are used for nothing, but our idea to start production in 1989 was, however, revolutionary for domestic market - said Assistant CEO Bojan Baltić and added that the company had the state-of-the-arts equipment with aseptic lines for production of various fruit products.

Ekofarm produces fruit wines of blueberry and blackberry. Under the "natura vita" brand, it annually produces over 250 tons of blackberry wine and it is the biggest buyer of that fruit in the region of Golija-Studenica.

Baltić points out that the blackberry wine, with 4% of alcohol, is healthy and rich with iron, which is the reason why it is recommended to pregnant women and all those who need to have their blood counts improved.

In addition, Ekofarm's natural fruit syrups of cornel berry, blackberry and Sinhalese hibiscus can be found in numerous healthy food stores and big market chains. The products are exported to Germany, USA, central America, Bosnia and Herzegvina, Montenegro and Macedonia.

The oldest fruit product is apple vinegar, and Ekofarm is one of five companies in the country that have their own acetators for its production.

At this year's Brand Fair in Belgrade, Ekofarm presented bottled low-mineral water Odmenjska, and Baltić pointed out that that water factory was the only factory in the Balkans to obtain the license for production of water used for preparation of food for newborns because it satisfied all international standards.

According to Baltić, Ekofarm today employs 100 workers and has a stable position in the market, which is the result of a huge work because they started as a family company, 20 years ago, from nothing.
