Forming of Campus of Technical Faculties in Belgrade Planned

Serbian Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Mladen Sarcevic attended the meeting at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade where the proposal of the project of forming a campus of technical faculties of the University of Belgrade was discussed.

The proposed project, which was initiated based on the faculties' needs, envisages an expansion of the capacities of the faculties of electrical engineering, architecture, civil engineering, mechanical engineering and metallurgy and technology in Belgrade.

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development has launched an initiative to test the possibility of first analyzing and then solving the problems of said faculties in the long term through this project.

Also, the possibility of meeting not just individual interests, but also contributing to a reduction of operating costs through rational space within the block and common features and improving the programmatic and every other form of cooperation between these institutions, professors and students, it is said in the press release on the website of the Government of Serbia.

The project proposal has been accepted by all faculties in principle and the next step is an agreement about the process and harmonization of activities toward its preparation and realization.

The ministry is already preparing one such campus project – a common building of the faculties of biology, geography and security studies in New Belgrade, and the experience from this project, in the sense of procedures and mutual relations between the future users, can be used in developing the project of the campus of technical faculties.

The meeting was also attended by the dean of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Milo Tomasevic, the dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Radivoje Mitrovic, and representatives of said technical faculties.
