Mastercard Enables Apple Pay for its Users in Serbia – A Safer, More Secure and Protected Way of Paying by iPhone and Apple Watch

Today, Mastercard Serbia enabled its users who are clients of ProCredit Bank to use Apple Pay in their everyday purchases. It is a safer way of payment, which protects data, helps users avoid giving their payment cards to cash register workers, touching POS terminals while typing in PIN codes or exchanging cash, and uses the capacity of an iPhone to ensure the safety of each transaction.

The user only needs to put their iPhone or Apple Watch next to the POS terminal in order to make a contactless payment. Each payment by Apple Pay is secure, as the authentication process is biometry-based, which entails face or fingerprint recognition or typing out a code to unlock the phone.

Apple Pay can be used in stores, pharmacies, taxis, restaurants, cafeterias, supermarkets and all points of sale which allow for contactless payment.

With today's arrival of Apple Pay to Serbia, the users have gained a unique, secure and flawless payment experience, which is especially important in these times when maintaining a physical distance and reducing the number of contacts are advised.

In order to make a quicker and more comfortable purchase within the apps or in the Safari browser, the clients can use Apple Pay on their iPhone, iPad or Mac, without having to create an account or re-enter the data pertaining to the account number and the delivery address.

Safety and privacy are at the core of the cooperation between Mastercard and Apple, which is why, whenever you use your Mastercard® debit or credit card within your Apple Pay mobile wallet, the actual number of your card is not stored in the device or at Apple's servers. Instead, a unique, encrypted number is allocated to the device and safely stored within a secure element on a certified chip in the device, designed to safely store information, which is an industry standard.

From the moment the bank that issues the Mastercard enables the Apple Pay service for its users, this is a very easily customized wallet. All you need to do is open the Wallet app on your iPhone, choose + and follow the steps for adding a credit or a debit Mastercard. Once the user adds the card to the iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad or iMac, they can immediately start using the Apple Pay service on their device. All the while, the user still has access to all the promotions and amenities otherwise provided by Mastercard or the bank.

ProCredit Bank is the first bank to enable its Mastercard users in Serbia to use the Apple Pay service. This service will be available to all the bank's clients who have an iPhone, an active account in the bank and one of the Mastercard payment cards.
