The Ministry of Culture competition granted RSD 700,000 to the City Museum for equipping the art repository and The Provincial Secretariat for Culture contest provided RSD 200,000 for finishing work on the conservation of archeological site Suvakov salas – Klisa.
The general manager of the City Museum, archeologist Vesta Grgurovic said that the first project would encompass the procurement of canvas carriers for paintings and a device that regulates temperature and humidity levels through which all safety measures for Jozef Pehan artwork will have been thoroughly carried out.
– Realization of this project will enable us to store one extraordinary artwork collection in accordance with all museum standards. The other project, to be carried out on Suvakov salas - Klisa archeological site, entails rough soil work, moving the excavated soil back and return the sire to its previous state with archeological supervision, Grgurovic stated.
She added that excavation will be followed by researching the found materials and presenting the results.
– we hope that in the following years we will receive greater support with the goal of turning the site into a tourist location. Admittedly it is a large-scale project but its potential and realization would be a win for the entire community, Vesna Grgurovic points out.
