Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic today visited the laboratory of the control system for the Belgrade-Budapest high-speed railway.

On that occasion, Mihajlovic pointed out that this lab of the Chinese rail company CRIC, which is located in the former office building of Siemens in the Belgrade Office Park complex in New Belgrade, was “the brain of the future high-speed railway from Belgrade to Budapest.”

– This is the most modern laboratory and a place from which the high-speed railway will be controlled. There are currently 1,533 workers on the sections between Belgrade and Stara Pazova and between Stara Pazova and Novi Sad, the highest number so far. In July, the right track on the section to Stara Pazova will be completed and the entire section will be finished by the end of the year. In late August 2021, we will be able to travel from Belgrade to Novi Sad at 200 kilometers per hour – she said.

The minister added that Serbia planned to build a high-speed railway from Belgrade to Nis and that she expected the realization of those plans to start the next year, the ministry announced.

Hu Xiaoyong, CRIC CEO, pointed out that the lab featured sophisticated technology meeting all European standards.

– Before the materials are installed in the process of the construction of the high-speed railway, they will be tested in this lab – he said.
