The works at the Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport are in progress despite the health crisis caused by the Covid-19 virus, which has had a considerable impact on the number of passengers at the airport and its income.

Despite the state of emergency in Serbia and the introduction of a state-wide curfew, Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said that all the infrastructural projects were in progress in line with the schedule and that there would be no delays.

The Terminal 2 building is currently being expanded and Gate C, which will feature additional jet bridges, is being extended.

Two integrated terminals of the airport will be expanded by 42,000 m2. Furthermore the airport is currently in the process of construction of a new waiting room on the ground floor, with a capacity of 140 passengers.

The initial purpose of an additional gate was to address the problem of the limited capacities due to the closing of other gates during the construction process.

The expansion project is worth EUR 262 million.

As eKapija has already written, most of the works will be carried out over a five-year period, including, among other things, the expansion of the terminals and the establishment of an inserted runway and taxiways.

New measures for citizens returning to the country

International air transport from the Nis Constantine the Great Airport is stopped indefinitely by the government's decision adopted at yesterday's session, it was announced last night.

Health and sanitary inspectors will set mandatory measures of health supervision and measures of mandatory self-isolation orally as well, instead of merely handing over written decision, as has been the case so far.
