"Jat Airways" starts flying to Portorož on April 15, 2010
"Jat Airways" and Tourist Organization Portorož have recently signed the contract on introduction of two regular weekly flights on Belgrade–Portorož route on April 15, 2010.
Jadran Furlanič, the Acting Director of Tourist Organization Portorož, said that he expected that the introduction of regular flights would result in twice as big visit of tourists from Serbia in 2010 as in 2009, which amounted to between 7,000 and 10,000 overnight stays.
JAT's airplanes will be flying on Belgrade-Portorož-Belgrade route on Thursday and Sunday during the period of 10 weeks and, in case the number of passengers is satisfying, it is possible that that period will be extended prior to September or the end of the year.
The price of the one-way ticket, without airport and other taxes, will amount to 30 EUR, while the return ticket will cost 59 EUR.
The value of the project that includes 20 Belgrade-Portorož-Belgrade rotations is 300,000 EUR. In addition to the companies that have signed the contract, other participants in the project are "Istrabenz turizam", "Bernandin Group", travel agency "Kompas", the representatives of tourist economy of the municipality of Piran, the Tourism Organization of Slovenia and the representatives of the tourist economy of Croatian Istra.
Ognjenović said that the introduction of flights to Portorož did not mean that the flights to Pula would be canceled. He added that "Jat" was negotiating on similar form of cooperation with Ohrid.
