Establishment of national infrastructure of spatial data in Serbia - geoportal www.geosrbija.rs presented
Republic Geodesic Institute and Norwegian national agency for cartography and cadastre (Statens Kartverk) have presented the activities that they have done so far in order to establish national infrastructure of geo-spatial data (NIGP) in Serbia.
Within the scope of Norwegian twining project, the Republic Geodesic Institute (RGZ) has organized a seminar with the aim of presenting the activities related to establishment of NIGP in Serbia. The Law on State Survey and Cadastre provided the foundations for creation of frameworks for access and exchange of digital spatial information .
The CEO of the Republic Geodesic Institute and Norwegian Ambassador have officially put in operation the initial version of Serbian geo-portal for access to certain metadata, groups of spatial data and services on the Internet. The first version of geo-portal is available on web address www.geosrbija.rs to both professional users and broad public.
At the moment, the geo-portal offers the information provided by the Republic Geodesic Institute (administrative units, addresses, cadastral plans, orthophoto shots, etc.), as well as selected statistical, seismologic and other geo-information provided by partner institutions.
The CEO of the Republic Geodesic Institute, Nenad Tesla, pointed out that those were the first steps in Serbia towards improvement of the exchange of geo-information, based on partner relations between the involved subjects, with the aim of introduction of efficient public services for the welfare of the whole society.
Also, RGZ is a persistent carrier of the processes within the implementation of infrastructure of spatial data at the national level in accordance with relevant European initiatives such as INSPIRE.
