The project of the construction of the TENT Obrenovac – New Belgrade Heating Plant heating pipeline is worth EUR 193 million, as stated by the deputy mayor of Belgrade, Goran Vesic, after a session of the City Assembly of Belgrade and the adoption of the information about the realization of this project.

– This is a project that aims to have hot water, which is the byproduct at the thermal power plant in Obrenovac, used for the heating of Belgrade. Together with the Government of the Republic of Serbia, we have secured a credit of EUR 193 million. The PE “Beogradske Elektrane” will pay 15%, whereas the rest of the money will be provided by the Government of Serbia. The expropriation of the land has begun and is expected to be completed in September, when the construction, which has been entrusted with the Chinese company POWERCHINA, should start as well. The heating pipeline is expected to be completed in two years – Vesic said, as reported by Beoinfo.

This practically means, he pointed out, that RSD 4.4 billion will be spent on gas this year, and when the heating pipeline is completed, the city will buy around two billion dinars worth of gas less.

– The annual savings will amount to around EUR 16 million. When the effects of the Konjarnik-Vinca heating pipeline are added to it, making for savings of around EUR 2 million a year, it means that the total savings will amount to 18 to 19 million euros – Vesic said.

Vesic expressed his expectations that the heating pipeline project will pay off for the city of Belgrade in 12 years, after which everything will be pure profit. The deputy mayor also announced that those were all reasons why the price of heating could drop in three years.
