Dutch company VDL and Serbian "Neobus" to produce "lexio" buses - contract worth 30m EUR
- Dutch company VDL and Serbian "Neobus" will sign 30m EUR worth of contract tomorrow (November 18, 2009) on partnership in production and export of intercity buses of make "lexio" to European market - the Embassy of Netherlands in Serbia announced.
It is stated in the announcement that the target markets for new "lexio" buses will be France, Italy and Germany.
Cooperation between the two companies was already announced in April 2009, and it took seven months for the production to be brought in accord and adapted for the joint project.
People from the Embassy estimate that "Neobus" will make significant steps in production, transfer of technology and international competitiveness in partnership with the leading Dutch bus manufacturer, and the Agreement also guarantees employment of over 240 people in "Neobus".
The contract between "Neobus" and VDL will be signed in the Embassy of Netherlands in Belgrade in the presence of Mlađan Dinkić, the Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia.
Growing number of Dutch and Serbian companies are starting cooperation for the sake of joint production. Serbia and Netherlands also cooperate in the fields of agriculture and metal processing, and in the field of ship building in particular.
In the period 2000 - 2008, over 35 projects in Serbia were backed by the Government of Netherlands with more than 22m EUR.
