New Year's Concert 2020 of Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra – Tickets to be drawn by lot

Each year, the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra performs its famous New Year's Concert at the Golden Hall of the Musikverein concert hall in Vienna. The most famous concert in the world will be broadcast in over 90 countries. Getting a ticket will require a little luck too, as the tickets will be drawn by lot due to the great interest.

The program features compositions by the Strauss family and their contemporaries, first-class interpretations of waltzes, polkas and marches, says the Vienna City Office in Belgrade.

The Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra is led by a different conductor each year. Some of them were Mariss Jansons (2016), Gustavo Dudamel (2017), Riccardo Muti (2018) and Christian Thielemann (2019). The conductor at the upcoming concert will be Andris Nelsons.

The famous Golden Hall at the Musikverein is not just one of the most beautiful concert halls in the world, but also one of the best acoustically. Modeled after the halls from the classical antiquity period, the hall is decorated with flower arrangements in various colors. The columns, the caryatids and the tympanum encourage the view of this music hall as a true temple of music.

In addition to being able to take part in the drawing of the tickets by lot, the interested audience can follow the concert live in the open in Bienna, on the square in front of the City Hall and in front of the State Opera. Traditionally, the concert starts on January 1 at 11.15.
