Project completed for bridge between Ljubovija and Bratunac - investment worth about 8.5m EUR
The Ministry of Infrastructure of Serbia and the Ministry of Transportation and Communications of Republic of Srpska have completed the project documentation for construction of the cross-border bridge across the Drina, between Bratunac and Ljubovija.
The estimated value of that investment is 8,462,262 EUR.
All permits will be collected soon, and the governments of Republic of Srpska and Serbia and the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina will start preparations for realization this project that was announced two years ago.
- Construction of the bridge is of great importance to the citizens and economies of both countries, especially for the inhabitants of central Podrinje, east part of Srpska, and western and central Serbia, because there has been no freight transportation across the old bridges in Bratunac and Skelane over the last few years. In order for some goods to be transported from Bratunac to neighboring Ljubovija (three kilometers) from Srebrenica to Bajina Bašta, or vice versa, the crossing in Karakaj near Zvornik must be used although it is 50 km away from Bratunac and 100 km away from Skelane. That creates huge transportation costs, which would be avoided with the construction of the bridge - said Nedeljko Mlađenović, the Mayor of Bratunac.
He pointed out that the agreement on financing of construction had not been reached yet, as well as that the decisions about the announcement of tenders for selection of contractors had not been made yet.
