Environmental landfill opened in Lapovo - "A.S.A. International" manages waste
The Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Oliver Dulić, ceremoniously put in operation the modern landfill in Lapovo yesterday (October 13th, 2009). This landfill was built according to the standards of European Union.
Developed in accordance with high standards of EU to satisfy the needs for environment protection, the landfill in Lapovo has sufficient capacities to receive waste from five municipalities in Šumadija and Pomoravlje within the next 25 years, and it represents unique modern landfill of the kind on aforementioned territory.
Dulić said on that occasion that it was sad that the landfill in Lapovo was only the second landfill on European level that had been put in operation in Serbia seven years after the waste management strategy had been put in effect. Let us remind that the first landfill was opened in Kikinda.
The Director General of company "A.S.A. International", Petr Vokral, estimated that Serbia represented one of the most important markets in that part of Europe.
He said that he hoped the the landfill would be successfully used by the inhabitants of Lapovo, Batočina, Despotovac, Velika Plana and Rače, and that his company backed the "Let's Clean Serbia" campaign of the Ministry of Environment and Spatial Planning.
