The construction of the bicycle lane Novi Sad-Belgrade along the state road 100 should begin next year. This was confirmed for Dnevnik by the Provincial Secretary for Economy and Tourism, Ivan Djokovic.

As he said, this is the largest project when it comes to the preparation of the project-technical documentation for the construction of cycling infrastructure, carried out by the Secretariat for Economy and Tourism together with the Ministry of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications.

– I believe that the tendering procedure for the construction and the construction itself could begin in February or March. This will be a full-profile two-way lane, with vertical and horizontal signalization. We intend to digitize it with Wi-Fi stations, electrical bike stop points and similar features. We will install various sensors and I believe it will truly be something we will be proud of. It will not only increase the tourist demand, but also connect local self-government and enable everyday communication and circulation of people and of course increase their safety – Djokovic said.

According to him, the construction of the bicycle lane is part of the draft state budget for the next year, as the construction is to be financed by the state.

– We are waiting for the National Assembly to adopt the budget, but we are also following these activities as the Autonomous Province. A total of 90% of the project-technical documentation has been done together with the Urban Planning Institute of Vojvodina, and the plan of a special purpose area is also being prepared, so once the state starts carrying out this project, we will be ready – Ivan Djokovic says.

Djokovic points out that the secretariat “is working daily to improve the cycling infrastructure”.

– We have just completed the installation and the repair of the signalization on the EuroVelo 6 route, which stretches from Spain to the Black Sea. Also, the secretariat has completed the project of establishing the routes and installing the signalization along the EuroVelo 11 and 13 roads, which stretch from northern Europe to the Black Sea – Djokovic says.
