Modern cold storage plant for apples opened in Čačak - investment worth about 1m EUR
The association of fruit-growers from Čačak, "Čačanska jabuka", has built a modern cold storage plant for apples, in which about 1m EUR was invested.
A member of association "Čačanska jabuka", Lazo Lazović, said to the press that the construction of the cold storage plant lasted for three years and that it had been financed by 23 fruit growers with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture of Serbia, which had invested 35m RSD, and the city of Čačak, which had helped the project with 8m RSD.
The cold storage plan, of which capacity is 1,200 tons, is situated in Donja Trepča, in the parcel of Čačak's Fruit Growing Institute that will be using one of the six chambers of the cold storage plant.
So far, 200 tons of apples have been stored in the cold storage plant. According to fruit growers, it will also be used for storing other fruits.
There are about 2,000 ha under apple trees on the territory of Čačak.
Purchase price for 1 km of apples on the territory of Čačak ranges between 3 RSD and about 50 RSD, which is the price for the first class of "delicious" apples. The purchase price of "ajdared" apples is about 30 RSD.
