"Magneti Marelli" to buy only halls - production of trucks in Kragujevac discontinued
- Italian company "Magneti Mareli", which expressed interest in takeover of factory "Zastava Trucks", wants to come into possession of halls and the location that lines with automobile factory "Fiat". The company does not intend to continue production of trucks in aforementioned factory, but to equip the space with its technology for production of parts and components for automobiles - "Blic" found out from reliable sources.
If the negotiations between the Italian company and the Government of Serbia, which last for few months now, end in success, about 1,000 new jobs will be created in the new factory.
Aleksandar Ljubić, the Adviser of the Ministry of Economy, told "Blic" that "Magneti Marelli" was interested only in the space occupied by the current trucks factory, and it was for certain that the current production in that factory would be neither continued nor expanded.
- It must be underlined that it is one of the world's three largest companies that deal with production of automobile parts. Although owned by "Fiat", company "Magneti Marelli" also cooperates with other automobile companies. They make almost everything - from spark plugs to steering mechanisms, suspensions and exhaust systems. It is a powerful company whose aim is to take the best possible position in Kragujevac because the Government of Serbia is also negotiating with another three companies that deal with production of car parts, which want to open their units in Kragujevac - says Aleksandar Ljubić.
On the other hand, Italian "Iveco" is only interested in having a brand new bus factory built at 30 ha in the industrial zone in the Korman field. If that plan comes true, that factory will be completely "robotized and computerized" and on the highest technological level, primarily when it comes to protection of bodies.
