"Philips" lighting system on stadium of "Manchester United"

- Philips Lighting has currently floodlit 70% of all UK Premier League Clubs. One of these clubs is "Manchester United" – people from "Philips electronics" announced.

At Old Trafford, the stadium with the largest seating capacity in the Premier League of 76,176, “Philips” installed 186 2Kw ArenaVision floodlights of which all were Hot Restrike versions. Floodlight failure will be a thing of the past thanks to two generators which are part of the new lighting system which guarantee instant re-ignition. Conventional lamps typically require 20 minutes to cool down before they can be utilized once more.

The new scheme now conforms to all FIFA and UEFA regulations. Light quality and lighting uniformity have to be excellent in order to permit color TV coverage that is as good by night as by day. This is even more important with the growing demand for High Definition TV, and brilliant color photography.
