First facility within National Training Center opened in Košutnjak
The Minister of Youth and Sport, Snežana Samardžić-Marković,
opened the first facility within the National Training Center in Košutnjak on
September 25th.
– I am happy because I have fulfilled a promise. This is a gift from the
Ministry of Youth and Sport for the sports in Serbia. Now that they have this
center, sports associations do not have to search, spend money and pay the
rents any more – Ms Samardžić-Marković said to the officials from the sports associations.
She added that everything would be different now because the problem was
partially solved:
– The money that used to be spent on “rent” will be now invested in development
projects. The Ministry once again demonstrated its care, not only for top
results, but also for preparations for achieving those results. I can now say
to sportsmen in Serbia – “This is yours”. What is also important is that this
is not the end of the care for Serbian sports, as far as infrastructure is
concerned, but only the first step. The House of Football is under
construction, and the Military Academy should become a part of the National
Training Center one day as well.
The CEO of the Republic Sports Institute, Jasminko Pozderac, pointed out that it was “a big day for Serbian sport”:
– After 20 years, one such facility is put at the disposal of the sports in Serbia. The Republic Sports Institute represents the beginning of creation of the National Training Center because we can offer everything at one place.
He added that the Republic Sports Institute had expert personnel, equipment for testing and diagnostics, as well as the facility at over 5,000 sqm, which would be used by 11 sports associations.
