"U.S. Steel Serbia" registered profit in August

Company "U.S. Steel Serbia", former ironworks"Smederevo" that was bought by the American company in 2003 for 21m USD, registered profit in August, after 12 months of losses at the time of recession.

- This success in August does not mean that the global economic crisis and recession in the steel industry are behind us, but it infuses us with a mild optimism - said the people from the Independent trade union of metal workers of that company.

According to the trade union, the fact that the company will put both high furnaces in operation in October and November represents an additional encouragement.

The workers of former Serbian giant are of the opinion that this positive result, which was achieved after one year of crisis, is not only significant to company "U.S. Steel Serbia", but also to the economy of Smederevo and Serbi.
