Lesnina XXXL, a regional furniture and home equipment store chain, opened its first outlet in Serbia after more than two decades on Tuesday, May 14. The construction of the facility in Novi Sad is a part of the initial investment of EUR 20 million, which has enabled the creation of more than 150 new jobs. Lesnina will open for all visitors on Thursday, May 16, and the ceremony will include a performance by singer Zvonko Bogdan, and the entertainment program for children and adults will last till the end of the week.
The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunication of Serbia, Rasim Ljajic, the president of the Provincial Government of Vojvodina, Igor Mirovic, the mayor of Novi Sad, Milos Vucevic, the director of Lesnina S, Aleksandar Pavicevic, the regional director of Lesnina XXL, Bojan Papic, and the managing director of GIGA International, Gerald Socher, officially opened the first outlet of Lesnina XXXL in Novi Sad, which takes up 20,000 m2. During the opening days, May 16-19, a 15% discount is available on all items.
– This company has entered Serbia in a big way through Novi Sad. This is another famous brand in Novi Sad's business register, which means 150 new jobs and more money for the further development in all segments, because, without the economic growth, there's no investment in social policy, healthcare, education or culture – Mayor Vucevic emphasized.
Minister Ljajic pointed out that Serbia's furniture industry had recorded a doubling of exports in 2018 and that this market grew in each segment in Serbia.
– The arrival of Lesnina XXL means the return of an old, well familiar brand to our market, but with a new ownership structure and ambitious development plans. There's no efficient market without a healthy competition, and our aim is for as many Serbian furniture manufacturers to be present here as possible – Ljajic said.
The president of the Provincial Government, Igor Mirovic, said that the return of Lesnina to Serbia was a very important step, as it provided citizens with a modern shopping center, whereas the company's arrival to Vojvodina showed the true strength of the economy.
– The Lesnina department store is one of the most modern facilities in our group. We managed to build it in only eight months and we hope to justify the customers' great expectations – stated the director of Lesnina S, Aleksandar Pavicevic.
Lesnina was founded in 1949. It currently has sales of over EUR 5 billion annually, employing around 25,000 people in 280 department stores in Europe. In mid-2010, Lesnina became a member of the Austrian concern XXXLutz, one of the world's largest traders of furniture.
