Campaign for regulation of smoking in public place instead of general ban

Under slogan "Solution is compromise", the representatives of the National initiative "Protection instead of ban" started campaign on July 18 in the center of Belgrade, during which the guests of city coffee shops will be introduced to the advantages of introduction of the law that should regulate smoking in public place in an efficient way, protecting both non-smokers and smokers.

In coffee shops "OK.no", "Tribeca" and "Speak Easy", mime artists demonstrated the way in which good regulation of smoking in public place can make it possible for both smokers and non-smokers to spend time in catering facilities without endangering their right to choice.

- What we suggest is the Law that is applicable in practice. I sincerely hope that the Government of Serbia will recognize the importance of introduction of the solution that does not endanger one such economically significant branch in Serbia like catering - said Zdravko Brkić, a member of the Initiative Board.

Over one month ago, the organizers of the national initiative had the meeting with the representatives of the Ministry of Health who sticked to their exclusive decision to completely ban smoking.

After Belgrade, the campaign will be held in Novi Sad and Niš.
