(Predrag Sofrenić)
- Serbian telecommunication company "Telefonija" plans to sell its majority share in Internet operator "Beotelnet ISP" in 2009 - the Director General of "Telefonija", Predrag Sofrenić, said today (June 30, 2009).
He told Beta that the company planned to sell between 65 and 100% of "Beotel ISP", one of the three leading Internet operators in the market of Serbia.
As Sofrenić explained, several interested strategic partners have already made contact with "Telefonija", and the negotiations are underway.
He said that the decision about sale of "Beotelnet" had been made because of the estimates that liberalization of the telecommunications market would make competition even tougher and that the survival of companies would depend on how much they would be able to invest in development of business, including procurement of licenses and introduction of new services.
- The Management of Business system "Telefonija" has estimated that "Beotelnet ISP" will be able to meet the new requests of the market in future conditions through partnership with serious strategic partner that will be able to support its further development - said Sofrenić.
