Serbian Economy Minister Goran Knezevic said in his conversation with the Ambassador of Germany to Belgrade, Thomas Schieb, that the trade between the two countries had reached nearly EUR 5 billion in 2018 and that around 60,000 residents of Serbia now worked in companies with the majority German capital.
Knezevic said that the bilateral economic relations were at an enviable level and that they followed the “excellent political relations”. He praised German investors for, as he said, their increasingly frequent reinvestments, which help create new jobs in Serbia, the Ministry of Economy announced.
The press release also says that Knezevic asked the ambassador for Germany to urge with Albania to abolish the 100% fees on the import of goods from central Serbia. Schieb said that he would do everything in his power as an ambassador to support Serbia on its road to the EU, because, as he said, “without the countries of the Western Balkans, the EU is not complete”.
The finalization of the activities regarding the program of promotion of entrepreneurship and self-employment, jointly carried out by the Ministry of Economy, the Public Investment Management Office and the German development bank KfW, was also agreed at the meeting.
