The Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of Serbia has issued the location permit for the gondola which is being built by the Ski Resorts of Serbia and the City of Belgrade, the Belgrade media report.

Once the gondola is built, a trip from Usce to Kalemegdan will take only five minutes. The starting point in Usce would be located at an altitude of 75 meters, whereas the exit station at Kalemegdan would be 106 meters tall. The total length of the route in that case would be one kilometer.

The issuing of the location permit means that the construction permit might be issued by April, when the construction might start as well. The gondola is expected to be completed and commissioned by the end of the year.

The route will be around one kilometer long. The station on one side will be located close to the port and Beton Hala, whereas the station on the other side will be where the skate park is now.

The gondola will transport 3,000 people an hour in both directions at around 20 km/h.

There should be 30-35 cabins, each for 10 to 35 passengers. The gondola will be accessible to disabled persons. It will also allow passengers to transport their bicycles.

The City of Belgrade signed the agreement with the contractor in December, and it was previously announced that the gondola would be built by three local companies and one Italian company, namely Leitner S.p.a Vipiten, KOTO, Elkomsd i Del ing.
