City to cooperate with Russian company Yandex Taxi

Deputy Mayor of Belgrade Goran Vesic has talked to Anton Petrakov, GR & Public Policy Director at Yandex.Taxi, which has recently entered the Belgrade market.

Vesic said that it was good that one of the biggest ride-hailing services had arrived to the local market.

– This shows that Belgrade is increasingly interesting to companies and a good investment destination, as well as that our market is growing – Vesic emphasized and welcomed the company to the market.

The deputy mayor introduced the company with the intentions of the City of Belgrade when it comes to taxi transportation, primarily pertaining to new regulations which allow the city to counter the problem of illegal taxi service, which is unfair competition to everyone.

– In the past 30 days, since the new regulations came into effect, over 30 taxi vehicles have been confiscated from people who offered this service illegally. Belgrade will continue to do so. In the upcoming period, the city and the new owner of the Nikola Tesla Airport will solve the problem of illegal taxi service – Vesic said.
