SOWI plans to invest EUR 169 million in wind farm in Kosovo

(Illustration) The German-Kosovan company SOWI is planning an investment of EUR 169 million in the construction of a wind farm with 105 MW of installed power in the northern municipality of Mitrovica, which will be the biggest direct investment ever in that part of Kosovo and Metohija.

The wind farm to be built by SOWI will have a total of 30 wind generators, the media report.

The prime minister of the temporary institutions in Pristina, Ramush Haradinaj, said in a press release that the project was being considered.

Minister of Trade and Industry Entrit Shala said on this occasion that “this is a year of economic development” and that the project would provide sustainable employment of young people.

In May 2018, the Kosovan transmission system operator company KOSTT and SOWI signed an agreement on the connection of the planned wind farms Selaci 1, 2 and 3 to the power network.

After the agreement was signed, KOSTT announced that it was expected for a 105-MW wind farm, to be located in the northern part of Bajgora in the municipality of Mitrovica, to be connected to the network in 2020.
