"Delta agrar" to expand plantation - new plantings in Čelarevo

- Company "Delta agrar" is expanding one of the top modern apple orchards in the region, which is situated in Čelarevo, within stock company "Podunavlje", where 400,000 nursery plants of six top-quality and the most demanded apple sorts have been planted at 100 ha - said Nikola Milićević, the CEO of "Podunavlje".

According to his words, the orchard will be enlarged thanks to the new apple plantation at 25 ha. The orchard is organized according to the technology that is in use in south Tirolia, and it anticipates drop-by-drop irrigation, protection from frost and hail, as well as use of top-quality nursery plants of six apple sorts.

Milićević also announced commencement of construction of ULO cold storage plant with the capacity of 3,000 tons, as well as expected production of over 2,000 tons of apple. Within the next three years, because of the penetration of Russian market, apple plantings should cover the surface of 400 ha.
