The IMF mission, led by James Roaf, will stay in Belgrade from 28 January to 5 February.
The talks will focus on the implementation of the macroeconomic and structural reform program, supported by the Policy Coordination Instrument (PCI). The PCI was approved to Serbia in July 2018, it is of advisory nature and does not involve the use of IMF financial resources. The program aims to step up investment and private sector employment, curb the grey economy and accelerate reforms. The outlook and projections for 2019–2020 will also be discussed.
As Serbia is due for consultations under Article IV of the IMF’s Articles of Agreement this year, the consultation topics will be announced during the current talks. Regular consultations are carried out in all IMF member countries within the IMF’s country surveillance process.
Within the consultations, mission members will analyze overall economic trends in Serbia, and economic policies and measures. The previous consultations with Serbia were completed in late August 2017, the NBS says in the press release.
