Producers of food for children, ice cream and confectionery in Serbia no longer have to pay fees on powdered milk as of January 1 thanks to the successful initiative of the Chamber of Commerce of Serbia, which will save them more than EUR 700,000 in 2019.

Dimitrije Ivanovic, the secretary of the Association for the Food Industry of the CCIS, says that producers are already saving money in production and marketing, making domestic products more competitive in the local and the foreign markets.

The initiative was started by representatives of the companies gathered within the Group of Producers of Diet Food and Food for Children.

The executive director of Fabrika Decje Hrane Dobanovci, Zeljko Ciganovic, says that the abolition of these fees is very important, as domestic companies can now compete with those in the EU, which have not been burdened with these fees.

According to him, he expects his company to save around EUR 50,000 in 2019.
