Serbian literature on Internet - digital library created

The whole opus of works by St. Sava, the poems written by Branko Radičević and Jovan Dučić, Branislav Nušić's and Jovan Sterija Popović's comedies, stories by Svetlana Velmar-Janković, the books for children by Jovan Jovanović Zmaj and Ljubivoje Ršumović are only some of the works of Serbian literature that are available on the Internet starting from yesterday (May 20, 2009), thanks to the Teachers' Faculty in Belgrade and company "Microsoft".

According to the words of the Dean of the Teachers' Faculty, Aleksandar Jovanović, the project for digitalization of significant works of Serbia literature "Anthology of Serbian Literature" has been elaborated to make the capital works of Serbian literature easily available to all readers in Serbia and all around the world.

This free digitalized library contains more than 100 works of folk, old and modern literature, from medieval works to the ones written at the beginning of the 20th century, which are not copyrighted. There are also some modern works of literature whose publishing in this edition was authorized by the authors themselves. Jovanović pointed out that the negotiations about publishing of the works by Miloš Crnjanski, Ivo Andrić and Dušan Radović were in progress and that the contents of that digital edition would be expanded in the future.

All books are printed in cyrillic and latin letters. They are also available in English language, on websites www.antologijasrpskeknjizevnosti.rs and www.aks.rs .

The Minister of Education, Žarko Obradović, pointed out that that project was of exceptional importance to education because kids and students will be able to read the most significant works of Serbian literature in a quick and simple way and free of charge.
