The average net salary in October was RSD 49,901, according to the Statistical Office of Serbia, Dnevnik writes.

Of the 18 fields observed by the Statistical Office, salaries are higher than the state average in eight of them, whereas, in ten of them, they are lower. The same was true a month before, which means that, even though the net salary in October was higher than that paid in September, the overall ratio has not changed.

Net salaries higher than RSD 100,000 were paid in four sectors in October. The “big four” now includes employees in the exploitation of raw oil and natural gas, but no longer includes employees in the production of tobacco products, who had net salaries higher than RSD 100,000 in September, but have since had their salaries drop below that amount.

For months now, employees in the air transport sector have had the highest net salaries in Serbia. In October, their average net salary amounted to RSD 136,830. This sector is followed by service activities in mining (RSD 116,877), exploitation of raw oil and natural gas (RSD 116,809) and computer programming and consultative activities.

As for other sectors, the Statistical Office of Serbia further lists financial and insurance activities (RSD 88,887), information and communications (RSD 82,724), power, gas and steam supply (RSD 82,219) and mining (RSD 78,315). In October, salaries higher than the average net salary in Serbia was paid in the real estate sector (RSD 50,762), professional, scientific, investment and technical activities (RSD 62,236), public administration and mandatory social insurance (RSD 58,251) and education (RSD 51,965).

In the remaining ten sectors, net salaries in October were lower than the state average. The lowest ones were paid in the accommodation and catering sector (RSD 31,955), and above them are other service activities (RSD 38,918), art, entertainment and recreation (RSD 41,759), retail, wholesale and repair of motor vehicles (RSD 42,218), agriculture, forestry and fishery (RSD 44,000), administrative and support service activities (RSD 44,034), construction (RSD 44,070), water supply and waste water management (RSD 44,220), manufacturing (RSD 45,437), transport and storage (RSD 45,975) and healthcare and social welfare (RSD 49,176).

In October, according to these data, the difference between the lowest and the highest net salary was RSD 104,875, amounting to more than two average net salaries. In September, the difference was RSD 87,860.

The differences are especially pronounced within the manufacturing sector, where the average net salary in October amounted to RSD 45,437, but where the salary in tobacco production was RSD 91,793, whereas the salary in the manufacturing of wood and wood products was RSD 31,583. There’s also the leather production sector with a net salary of RSD 33,245.

The median net salary in October was RSD 39,278, meaning that 50% of employees realized wages and salaries up to the mentioned amount.
