Ski Season opens on Stara Planina – New investments expected

Ski Season 2018/2019 has opened on Stara Planina. Everything is working at full capacity, and the demand is great.

– After a successful season and the revitalization of the roads to the mountain center, we are now looking at the development of congress tourism, as we have plenty of advantages compared to other destinations. I can also say that we've opened the reconstructed Mountain Home, which has 14 rooms and 64 beds. It is ideal for hunters and mountain tourists. Last year, we also opened the reconstructed Hotel Babin Zub, which has had great results in the past year – said Goran Karadzic, the director of SP Resort.

The Ski Resorts of Serbia have officially opened the ski season on Stara Planina, and the only gondola within this center is still a big attraction.

– Due to its potential, this destination should be increasingly more important strategically in the upcoming period and we should develop it into a larger ski center – said Dejan Cika, the director of the PE Ski Resorts of Serbia.

After the opening, the bravest visitors engaged in an offroad Jeep adrenaline ride. The three-day Ski Opening included numerous skiing activities, quizzes and pool games. Hedonists opted for the hotel's spa center and the mountain's intact nature.

Biljana Djokic, the acting director of the PE Stara Planina, said that this location had a remarkable tourist and investment potential.

– This year, we have fully reconstructed the roads to Stara Planina. The PE Stara Planina has equipped all the construction parcels in Jabucko Ravniste with infrastructure. The plan for 2019 is to build tennis courts and ski bars at the gondola's exit stop. We also plan to start investment activities in this location by attracting investors through a public call and to continue preparing the planning documentation as the foundation of the further growth of this tourist center – Biljana Djokic pointed out.
