Foreign investments have led to an accelerated economic and tourist development of the town, which has in turn led to the need for the construction of the airport, which should contribute to the further development of Jagodina and this area, as a modern economic, cultural, tourist and administrative center of the Pomoravlje District, the Town Council explains.
The airport will be built on the Stiplje Road in the cadaster municipality Vinorac-Voljevce, in the current location of Letiliste, about six kilometers away from the town's center. Letiliste has had the exploitation certificate since 2010. It has around 40,000 sqm and is the first step towards the future general aviation airport in Jagodina. The project entails a head office building, a runway, a tower, two gas stations...
The airport will service planes with up to 80 passengers and “have an important role in the development of the economy and tourism of Jagodina, Pomoravlje and this part of Serbia between Belgrade and Nis”.
The construction of the airport will be on tomorrow's agenda of the Town Assembly. Jagodina used to have an airport until 1951.
