The eKapija business portal today published the Special Edition Newsletter: Smart Cities – Through Digital Transformation to New Business Opportunities. In the new SEN, you can read about:
1. How do innovations and digitalization accelerate the development of city infrastructure and how cost-effective are investments in smart technologies?
2. How can digital transformation create efficient services for citizens and the economy and how far has the development of electronic government in Serbia progressed?
3. What are the most popular new solutions for cities of the future? How does the Internet of Things connect people, devices and large systems?
4. How much do we use mobile apps in everyday life and work and in which fields are they the most present?
We talked to representatives of state institutions and local self-governments, professional associations, startups and renowned companies which develop large infrastructural systems, digital solutions and services, provide support in various fields...
Udo Eichlinger, CEO of Siemens in Serbia, discussed the positive impact of digitalization on operations and competitiveness in the market. He points out that the increased consumer demand for high-quality products at affordable prices “is a new challenge for companies in the industry, and the answer lies in digitalization”.
Branka Pudrlja Durbaba, Senior Director of Sales and Customer Service at Vip Mobile, believes that companies have become aware of the values and the benefits of advanced digital solutions. She says that the digitalization is fully complementary with Vip's efforts, as the company plans to offer a range of new ICT solutions meant for small and medium enterprises and large enterprises in 2019.
Smart technologies are also present in the sector of real estate. Stefan Markovic, the director of the real estate ad website 4zida, says that their new service “Novogradnja” enables a smart search and presentation of facilities throughout Serbia.
Artur Turemka, General Manager for the Balkans at MasterCard, expects mobile payments to continue to grow in Europe, as well as in Serbia, and announces 2019 as a year of payment (r)evolution. He sees mobile payments as an example of good user experience, as users will no longer need to carry wallets.
The company SAP has been dedicated to the development of smart technologies and smart city solutions for a long time now, and this time it presents the so-called “Urban Platform” and examples of implementation of various services through systems of traffic control, environmental protection, public lighting... We have also interviewed David Solomon, the founder of the Thinking Cities project, which initiates innovative projects of sustainable smart cities, internationalization and rebranding, as well as technological startups worldwide. For the past 15 years, he has been a resident of Belgrade.
Smart technologies and networked devices are very susceptible to potential hacks. Kaspersky Lab presents the importance of cyber security and safety of individual IoT components, whereas BlackBerry showcases its latest smart phones, which will become available in the Serbian market in January. The characteristic keypad remains the brand's recognizable feature, and they also plan numerous innovations and performance upgrades.
