Vojvodina gets Tourism Development Program – Four destinations defined

The Assembly of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina has adopted the Tourism Development Program, a strategic document of great importance for the upgrade and development of tourism in Vojvodina.

The program entails the execution of clearly defined activities in the sphere of tourism in a four-year period and has been prepared in line with the Law on Tourism and the Strategy of the Development of Tourism of the Republic of Serbia from 2016 till 2025, the Provincial Government announced.

The document was prepared by the Provincial Secretariat for Economy and Tourism in cooperation with world experts in the field.

The strategy defines four travel destinations – Novi Sad, Fruska Gora and Sremski Karlovci; Subotica, Palic and the Tisa area, the Danube area – the upper Danube area; Novi Sad and the lower Danube area; and Banat with Vrsac.

The program, which leans on the strategy, features the description of the position and the main characteristics of the given area, a SWOT analysis, strategic directions and phases of the development of tourism in Vojvodina, the problems of sustainable development of the given area, the propositions and measures for solving them, as well as the manner of monitoring the realization of the program activities.

This strategic document primarily defines key investments projects such as the spa resort in Palic, health, wellness and wine resorts, a thematic amusement park and the construction of various recreational courts and facilities.

Regarding the projects meant for the public sector, the program defines the key role of privatization, that is, the modernization of spas, the urbanization of the town centers of Vojvodina, the development of the archaeological heritage, the revitalization of the Petrovaradin Fortress and Podgradje, but also the provision of support to the City of Novi Sad as the European Youth Capital 2019 and the European Cultural Capital 2021.
