(Illustration) The Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure announced on Monday, November 12, 2018, that, in the first three quarters of 2018, there were 54 recorded cases of illegal employment in construction, which is two and half times less than in the same period last year, when 141 such cases were recorded in companies on the ministry's “black” and “white” lists.
It was also announced that, at the end of the third quarter of the current year, the number of permanent employees in civil engineering projects was higher by more than 1,000 compared to the same period in 2017.
– The total number of workplace injuries also dropped from 111 to 84, as shown by the data from the latest rating list of contractors and suppliers. The list is updated four times a year and currently features 626 contractors and suppliers in the civil engineering sector – the press release says.
The “black” and the “white” lists of construction companies have been created based on the Labor Clauses Convention of the International Labor Organization, ratified at the National Assembly of Serbia at the initiative of Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and Minister of Construction Zorana Mihajlovic.
The task force consisting of representatives of state institutions and the Autonomous Union of Road Maintenance Workers of Serbia prepared the rating list of contractors in late 2014 and it has been regularly updated since. In 2017, the Government of Serbia adopted a decision by which state institutions were recommended to check the company's rating on the list before awarding the contract in order to avoid awarding the contract to companies from the “black” list.
