Minister of Trade, Tourism and Telecommunications of Serbia Rasim Ljajic laid the foundation stone for the construction of a hotel in the tourism and recreational complex in Kostunici near Gornji Milanovac today. It should open in two years and around EUR 2 million will be invested in it.

The ministry will fund this project in the Momcilo Cekovic center with RSD 50 million (around EUR 420,000).

– I believe that, in two years, when this hotel starts working, 50 people from this area will be employed, and that this will be an incentive for others from this region to do other types of business, all to the end of attracting new tourists – Ljajic said.

The minister pointed out that the ethno complex, unique in Serbia in many aspects, had not been used enough, given the fact that around 6,000 tourists, of which 20% foreign ones, arrived to Kostunici annually.

– What Kostunici lacked was this kind of a modern hotel which will boost a new kind of tourism, namely congress tourism, as business tourists spend four times more than regular ones, and wellness tourists spend twice as much as other tourists who visit our country – Ljajic said.

He also invited other representatives of the travel economy to apply for the funds the Government of Serbia provides for the development of tourism, both through the ministry and through affordable credits of the Development Fund with an interest rate of 1% and a repayment period of seven years.

– This is the least expensive way to get funds and invest in tourism, as it secures the much needed synergy between what the state needs to do when it comes to building the tourism infrastructure and what the travel economy needs to do through building such hotels – Ljajic said.
