Danica Purg, President of IEDC Bled School of Management – Successful management at the time of crisis
When storm is about to hit, certain people build walls, while the others erect windmills. It’s the same with this financial crisis – depending on their skills, certain companies will file for bankruptcy, while some others will come out as winners. The most important things for the management of a company are team work, time planning and communication – said Danica Purg, the President of prestigious IEDC Bled School of Management.
At the meeting of the members of Slovenian Business Club, which was held in Belgrade-based hotel “Continental” on April 2nd, she spoke about successful management of company at the time of the crisis.
As she explained, the main task of the manager is to learn how to turn the crisis into a new opportunity.
- The managers must make quick, but correct decisions, hold their promises and serve as model to all other employees. Also, the leaders must recognize priorities, praise people who do not waste time and stimulate enthusiasm – said Purg.
She pointed out that the crisis was the time when the companies should invest in the greatest talents because the basic skills were not enough.
One of the recipes for improvement of business is merging. As Danica Purg explained, "joint venture" inititatives and "networking" are exceptionally important for business at the time of crisis.
According to her, the basic virtues of a manager are knowledge, skills, personal characteristics and expertness in a particular branch of economy.
- At the time of saving and rationalization of business costs, the investments in education of staff should not be forgotten – said she.
IEDC - "Bled School of Management" “produces” top personnel for more than 20 years. Their references are numerous ministers, ambassadors and chief executive officers in large companies who used to be their students.
According to the words of Danica Purg, this business school plans to increase its presence in Serbia. She announced realization of the Advanced Management Program - AMP, which comprises 3 six-day modules in Belgrade in the period May-September 2009, in association with company "MPC Properties".
The purpose of this management development program is to increase the general level of knowledge of management and leadership, as well as to help the participants in the program develop appropriate managerial and leadership skills. The result will be a personal transformation that makes it possible for the participants to do their jobs more successfully and continue their personal and professional development in the future.
The concept of "the Advanced Management Program” is based on two significant experiences of IEDC–Bled School of Management in field of education and management development. This program uses the experiences gained through more than 500 programs designed and adapted to suit the needs of the corporate partners of IEDC-Bled School of Management all around the world.
The program is additionally improved and adapted to suit the needs of the managers from Southeast Europe. Its realization lasts for four months, which makes it possible for even the most occupied managers to participate in the program.
