(From one of the previous fairs) The World's Leading Trade Fair for Architecture, Materials and Systems – BAU 2019 will be held from January 14 through 19, 2019, at the Munich Fair, with over 2,200 exhibitors from 45 countries. The organizers announce for eKapija the opening of another two halls (C5 and C6) as the biggest new feature, which makes for another 20,000 m2 for exhibitors and visitors.
The fair will be held in all 19 halls on around 200,000 m2. The expansion will mostly benefit the flooring industry, as it will now have two halls.
– We will have around 40% foreign exhibitors at the upcoming fair, and the aim is for the number of professional visitors to be up to 260,000 – Katharina Fritsch, a representative of Messe Munchen, says for our portal.
She explains for eKapija that the number of foreign visitors keeps increasing. In 2017, foreign visitors accounted for 32.3% of the total number.
The representative of Messe Munchen pointed out that the fair, which encompasses all construction fields, attracts professional visitors from all sectors of design, construction and building. Fritsch adds that the number of design engineers, architects and civil engineers has grown considerably in the past few years.
– BAU 2019 will deal with sustainable construction and get closer to technology. The four key topics will therefore be digital, connected, integrated and smart – Fritsch says.
Another new feature at this year's fair will be the digital village, which will act as a link between software producers, the industry, researchers and application. For the fifth time in a row, the Long Night of Architecture will be organized as part of the fair.
Katharina Fritsch reminds that everyone interested can view the online catalog and find information on all exhibitors they are interested in. She also announced a range of accompanying programs and forums. As she says, application will be available online, and she notes that, due to the prices and the capacities, accommodation and transport reservations should be made as soon as possible.
The representative of BAU 2017 for Serbia is the German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce, which provides support in design and construction of stands, logistics, customs clearance and trip organization.
Vlastimir Stojanovic of the German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce reminds that German fairs are well known worldwide and that they are one of the most important instruments of international trade, a place where contacts are made and fostered and where experiences are shared.
– The German-Serbian Chamber of Commerce enables companies from Serbia to present their operations in the biggest German fairs, and BAU is certainly among the top ones. The constantly growing number of visitors from Serbia is noticeable – Stojanovic said.
He explains that there were around 500 visitors from Serbia in 2015, that the number grew to around 600 in 2017 and that it is expected to grow further in 2019. Stojanovic said that this year's fair will feature one, or possibly two exhibitors from Serbia.

Last year, BAU bought the Chinese fair FENESTRATION, and this year will see the premiere of the show in Beijing. FENESTRATION BAU China will be held from October 31 till November 3 and will feature over 620 exhibitors on 50,000 m2.
