Italian company Labor opened a new facility in Sremska Mitrovica on October 6.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said at the opening that 80% of the GDP of the Veneto region came from the operations of small enterprises with up to 15 employees.

He told the attendees to tell small investors not to seek better conditions in the region, as Serbia would give 5 to 10% better conditions.

Saying that Serbia and Italy are great friends, Italian Ambassador to Belgrade Carlo Lo Cascio called the economic relations a fundamental pillar of the bilateral cooperation. He added that investors from Italy not only wanted to stay in Serbia, but also to continue growing.

The Italian company arrived to Sremska Mitrovica in 2015 and bought a plot of land of 5.6 hectares in the industrial zone. This is its second facility.

So far, they have been processing and drying oak logs and manufacturing finished products in Italy. Now, their parquets and other wooden flooring products will be tagged “made in Serbia”.

The first facility employed 45 people, and another 40 are expected to be employed by the end of the year.
