Foundation stone for the factory of China’s Shandong Linglong in Zrenjanin to be laid down by March 2019

Members of the Town Assembly of Zrenjanin have adopted a decision setting aside building parcels in Industrial Zone Southeast where a new factory of China’s Shandong Linglong and its subcontractors will be built.

As the document says, the website of the local self-government reports, parcels are meant for the realization of an investment project of state importance for the purpose of the construction of a plant of pneumatics for motor vehicles and side facilities, based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the Government of Serbia and the Chinese company this August.

Mayor Cedomir Janjic reminded that this was an investment worth nearly a billion dollars and that certain activities needed to be carried out in order for the factory to be situated in the industrial zone, on an area of as many as 136 hectares.

– An investment of nearly a billion dollars is almost unbelievable and we are not yet fully aware what this means for our town and its future. We are completing negotiations with another three Chinese companies and I believe that those will be finished soon as well – he said.

He also said that Chinese investors planned to lay down the foundation stone by March 2019, and that the first shipments of pneumatics had already been contracted with German partners for 2021.

As he said, the factory in Zrenjanin would be much more modern that the one in China, and a relatively small number of workers, up to 1,500, would be employed in a large indoor area of over 60 hectares.
