Gross premium of "Uniqa osiguranje" grew by 54% in 2008 – share in Serbian market increased by 1%
Insurance company “Uniqa osiguranje” in Serbia has announced
today (March 24, 2009) that it increased gross premium in 2008 by 54%, to 31m
EUR.
The Director General of "Uniqa osiguranja", Zoran Višnjić, said that
the share of that insurance company in Serbian market had grown from 4 to 5% in
that way.
- In order to back the growth of gross premum of the insurance company in
Serbia, Austrian “Uniqa Group” increased the capital of "Uniqa
osiguranja" by 8.5m EUR in December 2008 – said he, but he was unable to
specify the amount of overall capital.
Višnjić added that the enlargement of capital was not in the plan for year 2009
because the growth of gross premium would be smaller.
As Višnjić explained, "Uniqa
osiguranje" registered the largest growth of the premium in the automobile
insurance sector, of which share in overall premium is about 50%, that is,
about 16m EUR.
According to his words, the premium in the real estate insurance sector grew by 35%, reaching about 4m EUR.
- The plan of "Uniqa osiguranje" for year 2009 is that the growth of gross premium be 5% larger than the growth of the market in Serbia – said Višnjić.
Austrian insurance group "Uniqa" has invested over 50m EUR in Serbia since the end of year 2006 when it took over "Zepter osiguranje".
