Construction of bio power plant begins in Lukicevo near Zrenjanin

The construction of a bio power plant has begun within the Vinex Etil company in Lukicevo. This will make the production process complete at the company, which already owns a farm with around 550 cows and a distillery of ethyl alcohol. The waste from both activities will be used to produce humus and energy.

The plan is for the bio power plant to start operating and producing 2.1 MW in a year, which will make it one of the biggest biogas power plants.

– The waste from the farm and the waste from the distillery will go to the bio power plant, and the heating energy from the bio power plant will go to the farm – says Goran Ilic, the owner of the company.

This is not the only bio power plant in the territory of the town of Zrenjanin. Slightly smaller ones have been built in Botos and Melenci.

– Large agricultural entities invest in the production of green energy in the territory of Zrenjanin. We are preparing a feasibility study with people from Vinex and the local community in order to see whether it pays off to heat the school or some public institutions with the surplus heating energy – says Mayor of Zrenjanin Cedomir Janjic.

The company currently employs around fifty workers, and the number will increase with the commissioning of the bio power plant. The investment is worth around EUR 3 million.
