Agreement on funding of construction of bypass route around Belgrade signed – Section from Ostruznica Bridge to Bubanj Potok worth EUR 207 million

Serbian Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure Zorana Mihajlovic said today that, with the signing of the agreement on the funding of the construction of the bypass route around Belgrade, signed in the presence of the presidents of Serbia and China, Aleksandar Vucic and Xi Jinping, the final requirement was met for the construction of this strategically important route to be completed after 30 years.

– The bypass route around Belgrade is a strategically important project not just for Belgrade, but for the entire Serbia as well. Nowadays, nearly 20 million vehicles more pass through Serbia than four years ago, and the bypass route is the traffic ring where the most important routes, Corridor 10 and Corridor 11, meet. With the completion of the construction of the bypass route around Belgrade, the transit through Serbia will be even quicker, and cargo traffic will be moved out of Belgrade for the first time after 30 years – says Mihajlovic, who is visiting China as a member of the Serbian delegation, headed by President Aleksandar Vucic.

The agreement on the financing of the section of the bypass route around Belgrade is the first loan in yuans in the transport infrastructure, whose countervalue amounts to EUR 207 million.

– The fact that the works started several months before the signing of the agreement on financing proves how important this project is for the Government of Serbia and how dedicated the contractor and the subcontractor are to the realization of this project – Zorana Mihajlovic said and added that, with the completion of this section, all 47 kilometers of the highway from Batajnica to Bubanj Potok would be completed in three years.

The agreement on financing pertains to the works on the construction of a 20.4-km section with access routes, from the bridge on the Sava near Ostruznica to Bubanj Potok.

The commercial agreement on the construction of this section is EUR 207 million. The main contractor is the Chinese company Power Construction Corporation of China, and the subcontractor is Azvirt.
