Alibunar Wind Farm with capacity of 42 MW opens – Investment worth EUR 80 million

Elicio NV finished construction of the new Alibunar Wind Farm with the total installed power of 42 MW that consists of 21 wind turbine and will supply 38,000 households using wind power. The opening ceremony that was held today was also attended by the Minister of Mining and Energy, Aleksandar Antic.

The investment for the wind far construction is worth EUR 80 million.

Beside the 21 wind turbines the wind farm complex also includes completed transformer station and distribution station. The first kilowatts of green energy are expected to be produced and distributed during October.

Out of EUR 80 million I investment, Belgian company Elicio invested EUR 20 million while the joint credit of the World Bank’s IFC Group and Unicredit Bank and FMO and GGF fund provided EUR 60 million.

Alibunar Wind afrm is the first wind farm in Serbia connected to a distribution system with total installed power of 42 MW and which will significantly reduce the CO2 emission by 88,000 tons per year.

Wind generators were built on arable land on the left side of the Belgrade – Vrsac state road, whereas the transformer station and distribution station are on the right side of the road.

The project is beneficial in several ways for Serbia considering it will contribute greatly to Serbia meeting the defined national targets of 27% of renewable energy resources until 2020. With Alibunar Wind Farm construction and opening another, smaller Malibunar Wind farm with the power of 8 MW, Elicio has confirmed that it was interested in investing in future wind farms in Serbia.

Aside from Serbia, Elicio has so far build 30 wind farms in Belgium, France and Kenya.
