External trade and retail turnover in Serbia grow in 1H 2018

Expressed in euros, the value of exports amounted to EUR 8033.0 million, an increase of 7.6%, compared to the same period last year. The value of imports amounted to EUR 10527.0 million, a 11.7% increase when compared to the same period last year.
Expressed in dollars, the value of exports amounted to USD 9725.1 million, a 20.4% increase when compared to the same period last year, while the value of imports amounted to USD 12751.7 million, a 25% increase relative to the same period last year.
The deficit expressed in euros amounted to 2494.0 million, an increase of 27.2% compared to the same period last year, and express in dollars, it amounted to USD 3026.5 million, which was an increase of 42.7% in relation to the same period last year.
The export-import ratio equaled 76.3% and was lower if compared to the same period last year when it was 79.2%.
The external trade in the reference period noted the highest level with the counties with which Serbia has signed agreements on free trade. European Union member countries account for 64.7% of total external trade.
The second major partner are the CEFTA countries, since the gained surplus in external trade amounted to USD 1122.8 million, resulting mainly from the exports of agricultural products (cereals and produces thereof and various sorts of drinks), iron and steel, road vehicles, oil and oil derivatives. The exports in the referent period amounted to USD 1635.7 million, while the imports were USD 512.9 million. The export– import ratio equaled 318.9 %. Expressed in EUR, exports amounted to 1351.5 and imports to 424.0 million (surplus amounted to EUR 927.5 million and export – import ratio equaled 318.8%).
In June 2018, value of exports amounted to USD 1739.9 million, presenting the increase of 14.0% relative to the same month last year. Value of imports amounted to USD 2196.5 million, being the increase of 16.6% compared to the same month 2017.
Expressed in EUR, value of exports was EUR 1491.2 million, i.e. the increase of 9.3% relative to June 2017 and value of imports was EUR 1881.2 million, being the increase of 11.7%, relative to June 2017.
