Potential purchasers interested in Ravanica confectionery plant

The president of the municipality of Cuprija, Ninoslav Eric, stated yesterday that there were potential purchasers interested in the Ravanica confectionery plant (Fabrika konditorskih proizvoda Ravanica).

– I hope that there will be more than ten bidders that will take part in the public bidding for Ravanica – Eric said.

The deadline for the purchase of sales documentation for Ravanica at the price of RSD 100,000 expires today.

The Ministry of Economy has recently opened the public call for the sale of Ravanica in Cuprija, the value of which has been estimated at EUR 261,000, with 100% of the company's capital put up for sale.

The deadline for the submission of applications for taking part in the public bidding is August 10, and interested bidders need to pay the deposit of EUR 26,100. The opening of the bids is scheduled for August 14.

The director of Ravanica, Miroslav Spasic, said that the company was to enter the privatization process without any hidden debts and added that the estimate of the factory's value was realistic and that it had been carried out with full transparency.

– The purchaser will become the 100% owner of the factory and will oblige to invest in it in the next two years. I don't know what the exact amount is, but I expect it to be considerable – Spasic told the press.

He said that, in terms of productivity, the factory lagged behind the competition in Serbia five- to ten-fold.

Ravanica has 113 employees, which, according to the director, is enough for the current production to continue.

Spasic believes that, with certain investments, the productivity might increase up to five times, and that the biggest problem of the factory, which has been operating for 60 years, is the obsolete production technology.

– The future owner will not be allowed to lay off workers over the next two years and will need to adhere to the production program – Spasic said.

The most prominent product of Ravanica is Bonzita, and it makes over 40 products, among which are cookies, flips, chocolate candy and pretzels.
