Serbian Minister of Mining and Energy Aleksandar Antic stated today that four companies had applied for the purchase of the documentation on the first day since the opening of the tender for the strategic partner for RTB Bor and added that the best bidder would be selected by the end of the year.

Antic told RTS that he expected the future strategic partner to keep all 5,000 employees, but that there will also be new employments.

– Above all, the obligation will be for the number of jobs to be kept in the period of our control of the privatization process, which will last for three to six years. As the business plan is part of the tender documentation, we expect that an additional number of workers will be needed – Antic said.

According to him, the RTB Bor tender is a “serious international tender”, which is to be published in the Financial Times today as well.

– The tender lasts through August 20, we will examine the offers in September, and I believe that, by the end of the year, we will pick the best bidder, once they pay USD 100 million, which is a requirement for the signing of the agreement – the minister said.

Antic also explained that the ownership percentage was one of the key issues at the tender, as the Republic of Serbia is asking the bidders what percentage they require.

– This will also be subject to rating – the minister emphasized.

Let us remind that the call for RTB Bor was placed on July 18 in Politika, stating that, with a capital increase of USD 350 million, the future investor gets a stake in RTB Bor.

The total amount of the monetary capital of RTB Bor slightly exceeds USD 2.3 billion.
